Pre-disease is early disease. Disease has already begun and the complications and co-morbidities have started in the body. This is the stage when the body’s optimum balance or homeostasis is being disturbed. For example, in pre-diabetes, damage to kidneys, eyes, heart and nervous system have already begun and will progressively worsen, if not treated. When your cholesterol levels are slightly elevated (200-250), inflammation and damage to the coronary arteries has started with accumulation of plaque and this progressively worsens, if not treated.
Scientific literature has well established the possibility of preventing serious disease with lifestyle modifications and supportive therapies. Currently, no pharmacologic agents are indicated to treat pre-disease or to prevent chronic disease. Because pharmaceutical agents are chemically engineered, many have adverse effects associated with their use.
PreEmptive Meds, Inc. (PMI) specializes in developing pre-disease therapies specifically to provide physicians and patients with options to treat the critical stage of pre-disease and arrest the progression before it becomes irreversible. |
